General Information
War Thunder is a cross-platform online war game dedicated to military aviation, armored vehicles and fleets from the Second World War and Korean War. Players participate in battles across all the main theaters of war, fighting with other real players from all over the world.
Project Management
We mostly translate in-game texts, articles about historical events in aviation, the biographies of famous pilots, encyclopedic information about the airplanes, tanks and fleets of the Second World War.
The localized articles are published on the game’s website either as a newsfeed or as an accompanying text as part of an event, for example Japanese Aviation Week. This means that we often have to complete these jobs on a tight schedule, usually for the next day. In addition, we need to be absolutely historically accurate in the usage of titles for military technology. The same requirements are characteristic of the texts in the game itself.
To ensure that the terminology used remains consistent throughout this long-term project, we use the memoQ CAT tool, which supports translation memory technology. The translators work within this program, and in addition, they have the opportunity to ask questions to representatives from the game developer directly in a specially organized online document where they receive prompt responses. All this allows us to achieve maximum localization quality in translating the texts.
Project Characteristics
- Texts dedicated to historical reference, leading us to actively consult with expert historians.
- Tight localization deadlines.
- We use memoQ to keep terminology consistent.
